Together with interims this month Helphire has announced the acquisition of New Law Legal, a legal practice operating primarily in road traffic personal injury and other consumer legal services. Post the implementation of the LAPSO Act in 2013, there is a ban on the payment of referral fees in personal injury cases but Helphire, like QPP, is getting round it by carrying out the work via a subsidiary hence the reason for the deal. Such personal injury claims total £3,000 each on average and generate a gross margin of 25% which is also better than that for credit hire.
