The volatility – both in business momentum and share price – continues. A trading update said that H2 has not started as well as had been hoped and that profit for the year will now be “at the lower range of market forecasts.† Retail like-for-likes have turned negative at -3.5% in January, compared to +9.3% in December. Wholesale has been generally OK with strong growth in January. No mention of gross margins. The retail performance is the main reason why brokers have downgraded, with Singer chopping its  FY’12 estimate by 6% to 46p (to be announced 12 July) with  a similar 6% cut to 63p next year.
