British technology firm CSR, which was established in 1998 (as Cambridge Silicon Radio) to develop connectivity semiconductors (Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS chips), boomed and busted in the earlier part of the millennium. The business at one time had become almost synonymous with Bluetooth - a technology that allows computers to connect with a gaggle of compatible gadgets such as printers or phones from up to 30 feet away in order to print wirelessly or synchronise a diary.
