Overall the Growth Portfolio shows a decline of 2.9% on the month. That is hardly surprising in a period which has seen the main indices take a hammering. But we’re quite grateful for a wobble in the markets as value should re-emerge. It’s situations like this which create the opportunities to find the really big winners, whether they be issues which were underpriced to get them away or whether it is just a company that goes through a temporarily unloved moment when skittish investors sell into low volumes. Either way, the set back in markets is all the more pleasing as we had already locked in profits and weeded out the weak performers last month to raise the cash balance.
