New Media Spark - Newsflow will drive shares higher

The improving market conditions for new issues has yet to galvanise shares in former internet incubator New Media Spark (13p). Spark which made investments in early stage technology ventures spent £200m on its portfolio in the height of the dot com bubble. It currently ascribes value to 31 holdings, even though 45 are trading, and these were written down to just £25m or 5p a share last September but will be substantially higher now. Spark is underpinned by its cash balance, equating to around £23m or 5p a share. In addition, it also has a 37%-stake in Sputz, a cash shell quoted in Germany which has plenty of cash and holds a 12.5% stake in Twister, a media services company. Meanwhile, chief executive, ...
