The UK election news failed to have much impact on the UK stock market indices. We look at why, and observe, dare we say, some “green shoots.”   Since early April the much-maligned FTSE-100 has shown impressive relative strength versus the major US stock market index, the S&P 500. Although the footsie is concentrated in global businesses, it certainly helps the mood music for the wider UK stock market, which is more domestically focused, the other two indices being the FTSE-250 and the FTSE-SmallCap. That revival in enthusiasm for the UK was reflected even earlier in the FTSE-250. It flew out of the blocks from the low in Autumn 2023.
