Latest H1 results show that despite a strong H1 last year, which had benefited from a substantial export order for 52,000 C50 masks, revenues were still up 2% at £62.8m. Pretax profit was up 4% at £8.5m with eps up 9% at 22.3p on a lower tax rate. Net cash at the half year was £7.3m, up from £2.9m. The protection & defence side made up most (but not all) of the gap left by the large Middle Eastern export order with increased delivery under its 10 year US Department of Defense contract for M50 respirators (112k vs 54k) and an uplift in sales into the North American Fire sector.
