The shares have remained strong with a persistent buyer in the market. That buyer is the company itself - which having bought back 4.82m shares in March (16.2% of the equity), now plans to buy back a further 3.78m shares.It's perfectly easy to see why Character is doing this. Its latest results were barnstorming. For the six months to 28 February, sales were up 14% to Â£43.1m, with a return to a pretax profit of Â£3.73m, versus a loss of Â£2.78m. Earnings per share were 10.2p.
