Renesola - Yanks buy aggressively following plans to raise output to one giga watt

At one point, shares in Renesola were up more than Â£3 on the month to 760p. This was after it announced barnstorming results. Driven by higher than expected production output of 66.5MW for Q108, compared to 51.3MW in Q407, revenues for the first quarter of the year were up 28% on the US$96m reported in Q407. Pretax profit for the quarter was US$21.3m, a 38% increase sequentially and 234% year-over-year. Renesola recognised a tax charge of US$3.6m in Q1 compared to a tax credit of US$5.2m in the last quarter of 2007 and reflecting this, earnings per share were 15 cents.The gross margin was 22.1% compared to 20.4% the previous quarter despite feedstock prices continuing to rise by almost a fifth quarter-on-quarter.
