Back in July/August 2005, we featured three companies set to benefit from emissions trading: Climate Exchange, Trading Emissions and Agcert (AGC; 41p). All three companies were set up to benefit from new legislation known as the Kyoto Protocol which had been introduced earlier in the year. This sets a quota for the level of carbon dioxide emissions industrial companies are permitted to produce in order to combat the serious threat of climate change. Whilst Climate Exchange is up almost six-fold to 1850p and Trading Emissions is up 50% to 150p, Agcert has gone the other way. But we think it is time to take another look at it.
