Plus Markets (PMK; 27p) is unusual among many small companies in that the business has been totally reinvented by its new chief executive, Simon Brickles, in the past two years. The business, which started as Ofex, the share trading facility for unlisted companies, has been transformed into a trading platform for quoted companies. There is a strong feeling of excitement within the company. Brickles, who was responsible for setting up AIM on behalf of the London Stock Exchange (he was instrumental in writing the AIM Rules), notes that the Stock Exchange changes to the SETS electronic method of order book trading have not been welcomed by many brokers who still prefer the old fashioned system of being able to phone a market maker ...
