Despite the stockmarket sell off through May, shares in electronic component distributor Abacus Group (ABU; 165p) barely flinched. There’s an old adage that if they don’t want to go down then eventually they will go up and the group’s latest results announced on 31 May provide plenty of reasons to expect this to happen. The rating is not expensive but the perceived quality of Abacus’ business has been overshadowed by two things. First, the spluttering nature of the recovery in the semiconductor market since the dotcom bubble when chips were at the heart of the internet and telecoms revolution and profitability for all the main distributors ballooned.
