Mayborn (MBY; 443p) a baby care and fabric dyes business, is on a spectacular growth path. Still 55% owned by the original founding Samuel family, the business confounded sceptics last year with forecast-busting results which beat expectations that had already been lifted three times in 12 months. Brokers had been expecting  ?8.5m pretax but Mayborn delivered ?8.7m for the year to 31 December, up 26% on a year earlier. Earnings per share went up 23% to 29.2p. Over the month we revisited the company at its Sydenham site, the home of Mayborn?s historical business supplying fabric dyes.
