When we last looked at Trafficmaster at 53p in Jan'02, we attached a heavy risk warning to the shares and said they would be volatile. The shares did exactly what was said on the tin; rising to 105p over the next two years but not before they had hit a gut-wrenching 7p in the intervening period. Trafficmaster was a very different business back then with its network infrastructure spanning the UK, Germany and Italy and it also contained a lossmaking fleet management business which made the company difficult to get to grips with.But the group has since been transformed through a series of disposals and closures of businesses to leave just four divisions, each of which is profitable.
