Shawbrook, a specialist lending and savings bank, is a new bank that only made its first loan in 2011. But loan book expansion has come in at a  blistering speed. From close to a standing start in 2011, by the end of 2014 the loan book had ballooned to £2.3bn and is now forecast to more than double to £5.1bn by 2017 - a 30% annual clip.As with most of the new breed of “challenger” banks, Shawbrook’s range of loans are an alternative to funding from the mainstream lenders with comparably higher margins.
