Steve Lewis, Majestic’s chief executive, makes no bones about the retail market for wine, saying it has been tough for a couple of years. But against that backdrop Lewis has been attempting to deliver growth with Majestic’s wine warehouse rollout continuing, investment in fine wines and growth of its commercial side.Latest results for the year to end March demonstrate the difficult market with like-for-like sales down 0.1%, so same store sales have remained on a plateau for almost three years. But new space from 13 stores opened in the period helped overall sales, which were up 1.4% at £279m with pretax profit and eps flattish at £23.8m and 27p, respectively.Core UK sales grew 4% to £244m.
