JD Sports has issued a trading update for the first 18 weeks of the year. This said like-for-like sales have accelerated in the final eight weeks of the period, with retail sales growth for the period of 4.1%, compared to being 2% ahead in the first 10 weeks. JD also signalled that the sports side's performance (+5.1% like-for-like growth) has been boosted by the World Cup, whilst the French arm Chausport had also made a good start to the new year. The fashion side (-1.2% like-for-like) has also improved both its like-for-like sales and margins.
