We attended a couple of auctions during the month, the Fine Art sale at Bonhams and the commercial property one at Allsop. Even though each of these auctions had one or two lots seeing fly away prices, it hardly compensated for the fact that on average prices have been falling. No different for the stockmarket this month, where the same high liquidity finally seems on the wane. Despite further bid approaches amongst the blue chips - this time ICI following on the heels of Sainsbury and Boots previously - it doesn’t seem to have provided fuel for the Indices.
