Last month's issue commented how the NHS was trying to counter Synergy Healthcare's dominance of the sterile services market. This had resulted in Synergy being disbarred from certain contracts and with few other companies with the relevant skills, tiny Shiloh had been pre-qualified on three of four NHS National Decotamination contracts (wave1) in Kent, Manchester and Birmingham, with just one other bidder in each region. We made Shiloh a speculative buy at 105p at the time. One month later, Synergy has announced an agreed offer for Shiloh at 130p, to value the company at £8.7m, which looks like a way of sticking two fingers up at the NHS.
