Shares in Plusnet (PNT; 215p), a leading ISP providing internet connectivity services to residential customers and business customers in the UK, have more than doubled since joining AIM in July '04. No new money was raised at the time but instead NASDAQ-listed computer reseller Incite, which acquired the business in 1999 as part of another acquisition, has progressively sold down its holding and in December, it disappeared off the shareholder register completely. Not that Plusnet needed new funds; it is a hugely cash generative business and its cash pile of £2.5m at the end of 2003 rose to £6.8m last year.
