A new high followed results for the year to 29 March. Profit before tax and goodwill was up 27% to £10.6m and earnings by 22% to 45.4p. The principal driver of profits was a very strong sales performance with turnover up 18% to £148.3m. Same store sales growth during the year was 10% (+8.2% in the 72 stores more than five years old). Ten new stores opened during the year contributing to a 10.5% rise in active customer numbers to 325,000. The average price per bottle of still wine rose from £5.30 to £5.40 (36% above the market average) which in turn helped the average transaction to increase from £104 to £107.
