Solid State was a main buy in August 2017. At the time, I highlighted that CEO Gary Marsh’s plan was to “supplement organic growth with more acquisitions to double its size by 2022.” That was from a base of sales of £40m, pretax profit of £3.1m and eps of 32p in 2017.Now two years into his five year plan, up until this year’s interims it might seem like Marsh has been lollygagging in what had also been a soggy electronics market. He has, of course, completed two acquisitions (Pacer since the strategy was announced and Creasefield just before) and these interims show things are back on the original growth trajectory with the weakness of sterling - up until the election - helping.
