While the rest of the retail sector has been smashed to pieces, Joules has sailed majestically on with its update for the first half to end November saying profits are ahead of initial expectations. Sales were up 17.6% to £113.1m of which international has grown to £18m sales (ie. half of the turnover improvement). Retail sales (including e-commerce) were up 10% to £79.9m and e-commerce performed particularly well in the first half and now represents nearly 50% of all retail sales. Wholesale was up 26% to £32.5m and benefited from continued strong growth in the US and Germany where the brand is resonating well with a whole new customer base (which are now half of wholesale sales) and good UK performance ...
