Tribal, the supplier of student management systems, has put out a stinking update. It said that sales momentum on the large SALM and Queensland contracts continued to be slow and profits will now be significantly below even the sharply lowered market expectations from October. It now expects a profit of just £0.6m for the year about to end.Under the terms of some of those larger contracts, invoicing and payments from customers is linked to customer programme milestones, which are not always in its control and have moved. Consequently, it has experienced a cash crunch and is raising £35m by way of a rescue rights issue, of which £30m has been underwritten by Investec on a standby basis.
