For the past 130 years, Renold has been making and selling industrial steel chains and power transmission products (including gears and couplings). The applications of its chains range from industrial machinery to running conveyor belts whilst the gears are often found in earthmovers or in subway cars and the business has been moving into overseas markets. But when stockmarkets are stuck in a downward path, everything seems gloomy and that's why investors, fearful of recession, have reacted cautiously to news that Renold’s order book is strong and it expects a strong second half.
