The company's prime activity is sinking deep and/or wide vertical shafts for the extraction of platinum and other group metals (PGMs). As you would expect, most of the business has therefore been in South Africa, which has a high percentage of such deposits.SHFT has been around a long time, since 1961 in fact when it was set up as a division of Anglo American.
