When commenting on Spice’s two ancilliary businesses, involved in maintaining retail portfolios of stores and annual gas inspections for local authorities, we had said that “both these areas did badly last year as a result of the recession and greater competition ...CEO Simon Rigby believes in tough love and these two businesses have little future at Spice.†Therefore, it wasn’t too much of a surprise to us that within the results for H1 to 31 October, Spice announced it was going to knock the gas side on the head, resulting in a non-cash impairment charge of £43m.
