Character has not proved immune to the sudden and unexpecteddownturn in consumer confidence and reported that trading in theChristmas run-up was poorer than anticipated. For the four month periodto the end of December, it now expects sales to be down byapproximately 18%, exacerbated by the Bindeez issue.For the year to 31 August, Charles Stanley has reduced its salesforecast from Â£104m to Â£95m, a similar level to FY07. Its pretax profitforecast is reduced from Â£11m to Â£8m for eps of 12.9p.
