It wasn’t the results for the six months to 30 October which helped the shares to hit new highs. Instead it was the news that the company is to open 14 units this year, against earlier expectations of 10 to 12. As it was, six restaurants opened in H1 taking the estate to 56. Five of the six were in the La Tasca format and one was in the La Vina format (now 3). Overall, trading has been strong with sales up 18% to £27m. Pretax profit was £2.7m for adjusted eps of 3.7p. Return on assets (profit after depreciation against capital spend) was 28%.
