Mears has acquired Southampton-based M&T Group, a provider of building maintenance and painting services for the social housing sector. Major customers include Poole Borough Council and Portsmouth City Council. The vendor is Michael Turl, a founder of Mears and a director of Mears subsidiary Haydon, so the deal is a related transaction under AIM Rules. For the year ended 31 December2001, M&T made Â£138,758 operating profit on sales of Â£5.1m. Mearsis paying up to Â£3.5m (Â£815,000 cash upfront with the balance based onperformance).
