Ramsdens has reported its results for the year to end September with a pretax profit of £0.56m. Comparisons are against an 18 month period in the prior year, which had been extended due to Covid so are not especially meaningful. Additionally,  pretax profit is distorted by £1.5m received from furlough and also the business rates moratorium on some of its 153 stores (+2 on the year). It’s therefore perhaps meaningful to compare FY21 gross profit to the pre-pandemic FY19 year, when gross profit was £37m versus £22.3m for FY21. Most of the gross profit shortfall has come from the FX side, which provides holiday money to travellers and has seen gross profit £10m lower than pre-pandemic levels at £3.4m.
