Ahead of results on 24 February, McBride said that through significant downsizing of its portfolio to eliminate marginal products and by focusing on larger customers as per the new “Repair, Prepare, Grow” strategy, it has been continuing to bolster margins and H1 profits will be ahead of last year. That is at a time when top line growth has been harder to come by (H1 sales are +0.4% at constant currency).Pretax profit forecast for the year to end June is expected to climb from £21.7m to £27m (eps 10.5p), with next year seeing further improvement to £31.9m (eps 12.5p).
