Majestic’s Christmas trading update for the 10 weeks to 4 January delivered a pro forma group sales increase of 12.2%, assuming that Naked had been owned for the comparative period last year.The stand-out figure is Retail's LFL sales growth of 7.3%, up from 2.3% in H1, albeit against a weak comparative of a 1.7% decline last year. This is year one of management’s three year turnaround strategy. Changes made on the retail business (which is c.80% of operating profit) included a simplified pricing structure, the introduction of a single bottle purchase and investments across staffing and stores.
