• Bears have been having a field day in the housing sector, with share prices in free fall. The sector is, in general, massively oversold especially as it looks like mortgage rates are not likely to be rising for a while. If this lifts the housing market out of the doldrums, the effect on estate agents' profits will be dramatic.A good example of a company whose share price has received a bloodied nose is Countrywide (CWD; 351p), having now halved from a high of 687p in May 2014.
