Recurring revenue is the grail of any small company. The omens are therefore good for the energy brokers because energy contracts typically run for one to three years and provide good visibility to earnings. The wonder stock is Utilitywise (UTW; 289p) whose expansion is going gangbusters with its SME sales team expected to rise from 281 to about 400 before June. It is also moving its business towards the mid sized corporates. Conversely, rival Inspired Energy (INSE; 9.75p), which is a fifth of its size with a market cap of £40m, presently operates in the corporate space and is moving into Utilitywise's SME space.
