Shares in StatPro, a supplier of portfolio analytics software for fund managers, have begun 2010 well, bubbling up to a 52-week high of 107p against a low of just 35p last March. The issue the company had faced at the time was not of its own making; the low was caused by the panic selling after the group's bank unexpectedly went bust. But StatPro used the panic to its advantage, buying the bank debt off the liquidators and simultaneously refinancing with RBS, making a £1.2m profit in the process.That is just one indication of the fleet-of-foot approach that the company's founder, Justin Wheatley, has in running his business.
