Shares in GTL Resources (GTL; 71p) largely ignored the latest trading update on 20 January even though broker Arbuthnot lifted its pretax profit forecast hugely from US$5.8m to US$10.2m (eps 32 cents; nil tax) for the year to 31 March. Just a few months earlier Arbuthnot had forecast  a loss.GTL’s business is that of producing bioethanol from fermented crops as an alternative to diesel and petrol, which might sound a bit ‘Tomorrow’s World’. However, bioethanol is a renewable energy and is shown to reduce the carbon footprint of transport.
