As we write our update on Findel, the BBC website has just reported that demand for credit is back on the rise. New borrowing on credit cards, loans and overdrafts has outstripped the amount being paid back by UK consumers for the first time since June 09. Maybe this is the first sign that market worries on Findelâ€™s home shopping side have been overdone. During the month, it released a Q3 trading update. This said for the 39-week period to 1 January, like-for-like sales on the home shopping side were 2% ahead, helped by the expanded clothing offer, whilst financial services income was down 10%, mainly as Findel has focused on providing credit to existing home shopping customers with proven repayment profiles (rather than targeti ...
