A trading update confirmed that there has been no let up in demand for Avon's protection business. In the US, the US Department of Defense's budget funding has been confirmed for the programme, whilst the UK MoD has confirmed its intention to take the older generation masks until March 2011. Both these are high volume and low margin contracts but it was even more pleasing to see the company report that order intake from higher margin homeland security and foreign military customers for Q1 was better than in any of the previous four quarters.
