Asian Citrus - Good crop of Winter oranges

We met with management just before Christmas so itâ€™s been pleasing to see the company report a 36% increase in its crop of winter oranges, much in line with expectations. The rise to 80,807 tonnes was largely due to the first proper harvest at the new Xinfeng plantation in China where the first 200 trees are at fruit bearing ages although there was also a modest increase seen at the Hepu plantation reflecting the increased maturity of the trees. This year's sales will be helped by the increasing proportion (50% versus 27%) of harvests sold direct to supermarkets (commanding a 40% premium over wholesalers).Eps will also benefit from a translation gain into sterling - so too will the dividend yield of 5.2%. ...
