Mears - String of upbeat announcements

There have been a string of upbeat announcements from Mears. As weindicated last month, the social housing side has turned the corner interms of winning new work and having won three large contracts lastyear, Mears has just announced a fourth - a response maintenancecontract with Birmingham City Council that is worth Â£65m over a 4.5year period. Over 300 staff will transfer to Mears as a consequence.That means that in the past 10 months, Mears has now won over Â£500m ofnew contracts. On the domiciliary care side, Mears also reported significant newwins, being particularly successful in securing future revenues inRotherham and Hertfordshire where existing contracts were beingre-tendered.
