Shares in Parkwood have surged to all time highs and have now doubled on our recommendation price of 69p last March. They are now up five-fold since the earlier recommendation in June ‘01 at 25p. The core grounds maintenance business, Glendale, has continued to improve its margins and recently won its largest ever contract with the City of Liverpool to manage its parks and gardens (worth £100m over 12 years). There was also good news for two of its peripheral businesses, the tree and shrubs nursery Coblands has been returned to profit whilst the golf course management activity has won two new contracts and now manages eight courses.
