The boot category is turning if the recent statements from Timberland in the US (VF Corp) and DOCS are to be believed. DOCS’ sales began to improve in Q2, and while peak trading is ahead, there is encouraging signs from current trading as Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) sales return to growth across all three regions. So H1 results are somewhat ancient history with sales down 18% to £324m, driven by a 29% decline in wholesale and a 7% decrease in DTC sales. The loss before tax is £16.1m. The bright spot is net debt, which has fallen by £110m to £348m, alongside a £69.1m decrease in inventory, achieved through planned reductions in purchases.
