Old timers will recall Lincat, which used to make high quality light catering equipment (such as deep fat fryers, food preparation equipment and pan washers), was a stellar performer many years ago. I had initially thought of it as being a rather dowdy business but Lincat demonstrated an ability to trade through recessions, won huge orders, had excellent profits and a rapidly climbing share price. If anything, my misconception at the time had been the fact that I hadn’t appreciated just how many commercial kitchens there were across pubs, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, schools and fast food outlets, who would buy their products.
