Ahead of reporting on 30 January, Conviviality’s H1 update said sales were 211% ahead of last year at £783m benefiting from the transformational acquisitions of Matthew Clark in October ’15 and Bibendum PLB in May ‘16. Underlying trends are strong with sales +4.5% on an underlying basis. We tipped the shares in November 2013 at 167.5p when the operations comprised just the retail activities but clearly the nature and scale of profits has changed and the business is newly organised into three divisions. Matthew Clarke and Bibendum have been combined to form Conviviality Direct, the largest independent wholesaler to the on-trade market.
