A positive Q3 update from Aldermore has been overshadowed by the autumn statement, which proposes a 3% stamp duty surcharge on BTL investors from next April. Q3 confirms that growth continues apace and lending was £1bn for the first nine months of the year with net loans totalling £5.8bn at the end of September. Growth in lending at +20% in the year to date was matched by deposits, also +20%, to £5.4bn.With much of Aldermore’s business coming from BTL, some investors obviously think it's a seismic problem but perhaps not.
