Shares in Phoenix IT (PNX; 134p) stand within a couple of pence of their recent highs but a third of the £3 achieved in 2005 shortly after float. The company’s mainstay is its business continuity service. It’s the ‘old’ ICM business, which was quoted until 2007 when it was bought by Phoenix and operates data and mobile centres across the country, so in the event of a power failure or fire, customers can turn up and operate from one of its locations. Many customers are in financial services and Phoenix puts in place duplicate server infrastructure, storage, etc which enables them to be back up and running within hours, for instance for running dealing desks.
