In the early part of the last decade, there were lots of third party contract logistic specialists quoted on the stock market: the best known names included Christian Salvesen, Tibbet & Britton and a Tories' early privatisation, National Freight Corporation. As the economy was doing well, these businesses generated cash enabling them to grow into new markets; T&B and NFC expanded into North America whilst Salvesen built up a fast growing generator hire business, which it divested - Agrekko. But all three distribution firms have disappeared into the mists of time having been acquired between 2004-8 with T&B and NFC both ending up as part of Exel (before it too was swallowed by DHL) whils ...
