Listed on the Official List since 1973, Macfarlane (MACF; 25p) is the UK's largest distributor of protective packaging and has recently caught our attention after two directors bought shares.  Although the combined 180,000 shares at 25p are by recently appointed non-executives, a rising chart trend since June also suggests better times lie ahead. Chief executive Peter Atkinson, who we spoke to during the month, reckons the business offers a subtle way to exploit Internet and home shopping growth potential.
