JD too has said performance since September has been soft with a worsening trend. In the seven weeks running up to the interims in September, like-for-like sales were up 1.6% but have become -3.9% in the most recent nine weeks. The shares have been marked down and now trade on a PE of 6.5 based on Singer's forecast eps of 106.9p for the current year to end January and 119.1p next year. We originally tipped JD at 238p in Jan ‘09 when, like the present situation, most retailers had been marked down en masse. The share price gain since then has been powerfully supported by eps growth and it has a sound balance sheet; strong hold. ...
